Happy Halloween & Start Spreading the News....

Upon entering the SLC Intl Airport, we were greeted by the wimsical site of little passengers and airport personnel dressed up for Halloween--even at the early hour of 6:00 a.m. This definitely set a festive tone for our much anticipated trip to Israel. When we arrived at JFK airport, we learned that we had about 4 hours to kill before we had to check in with our tour group at the international terminal, so much to Steve's chagrin I talked him into taking a mini adventure into New York City. I think his stress level for the following 4 hours were off the charts, but we now can laugh about it and are really glad we went. We took a subway that put us right in Times Sqaure, so we walked along 42nd Street, down Broadway, over to the Radio City Music Hall, Rockfeller Center (watched the ice skaters for a few minutes) and then over to Carnegie Hall. The whole time we were walking down these very famous streets of New York, I had to fight the temptation to break out in song and dance..."Start spreading the news...." Something we really loved was seeing all of the people dressed up for Halloween on their way to various parties: we saw young children with their parents as well as grown men and women and ??? (we couldn't always tell) We started heading back to the subway at about 6:30 p.m. so that we would be in time for our 8:00 p.m. check in. There was a slight tense moment in the subway when we couldn't get the metro card to work, and I think Steve was about to weep, but all worked out NO PROBLEM! After a long wait, we finally boarded our flight to Tel Aviv, or as it was affectionately called, the flying Synogogue (because of all of the ultra orthodox Jews who were travelling on this flight). After over 30 hours of travelling, we finally reached Tel Aviv. After a quick dinner, we went swimming in the Meditarranean Sea (so refreshing!) Tomorrow we hit the road running, with a wake-up call at 6:00 a.m. Shalom!
